Anticonvulsant Prophylaxis

• Anticonvulsants may be used to prevent EARLY post-traumatic seizures in children at risk
• Phenytoin or carbamazepine have been shown to be effective in this respect
• Anticonvulsants are NOT recommended for preventing LATE post-traumatic seizures
